First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  1 Timothy 2:1-4

Dear Friends,
As I gathered with one of our communities of faith this morning for worship, one of the members asked for prayer for our country; specifically for the upcoming election and the unity that is needed among us. I imagine that many of our churches prayed that same prayer this week and in week's past.
Each day that brings us closer to election day, seems to bring new avenues of divisive rhetoric. Some of us are angry at one party or another. Some of us are very sad at the antics of our politicians and some have opted to ignore the whole thing.
While we all must participate in our democracy in the best way that we see fit, one avenue that must accompany all of us as God's representatives is prayer. I believe that this is our duty and I believe that our wellbeing depends on the wellbeing of our nation. Clearly, God does too. Jeremiah 29:7 reminds us, "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper".
With all of this in mind, I will be hosting a nonpartisan prayer vigil on Election Day, November 3 at 5PM on Webex.  I invite each of you to join me; for I am sure that the power of our prayers will be mighty and will help to bring our country together. As we get closer, I will have Kelly send out scripture and prayers for us to bring with us to our online vigil. I will plan on holding the
Webex open for 30 minutes. Bring a candle to light and an open heart for God to use.

                                                                 Be well, my friends, Jackie

Good Homes Wanted

I have three lovely black cats. Two short hair, one long hair. They are about 8 years old and are good cats. My dog hates them which makes life unhappy for all of us. Reward for helping me find them homes....

A Word About Church Conferences and Forms

The Katahdin district consists of 77 churches. 76 of which will have a church conference this fall.  (one federated church is scheduled for the spring)  Each of the 76 churches has been asked to submit roughly 18 forms.  Simple math tells us that the district office is wrangling 1368 documents in less than 60 days.  *phew*.

To those who submitted their forms a deep thank you.  While 1300+ documents is a lot of work, it is easier to process a full and complete packet than it is to try to connect with each church to discuss what is missing and when it will be submitted and then to track that submission.

A complete church conference packet provides a well rounded picture of your church and who you are.  This makes it easier for the district office to provide you with workshops, services and information you may need throughout the year.
